This is a short recording made at home one quiet Friday evening during the Covid-19 lockdown in contribution for the Cities and Memories project, #StayHomeSounds.

Stromness is a small harbour town sheltering in Scapa Flow. Our houses stand gable end to the sea, many with their own piers and slipways giving islanders direct access to the water. Pausing by the shoreline, I think the birds have been wondering what’s happening with the humans these days…
