I’m excited to be hosting some workshops this spring for young people in Shapinsay, Dounby and Hoy.
Details:
These workshops are focused on sound art’s main theme: listening.
In the first half of the workshop we will select a handful of activities together from a large set of listening prompts – easy for beginners and suitable for all ages, wherever you are. The listening prompts are grouped into collections that encourage us to explore ways of listening by considering
- sounds and their sources
- sound as sonic material
- sound in relation to place and time
- subjectivity/objectivity of listening
In the second half of the workshop we will put our listening experiences into a new context, and focus on listening while doing, either soundwalking or collaging as a group according to the weather conditions and preferences of those gathered on the day…
No prior experience is required: these interactive sessions are designed to inspire and be fun!
